The year 2025 is a year that will remain in my fond memories. I am satisfied with how it unfolded, even though—like many others—it passed far too quickly. The past year was somewhat different for me. I devoted less attention to fashion, to which I had previously dedicated most of my time, as throughout the year, alongside fashion, I was also involved in the work of the Consulate of the Republic of Slovenia in Shanghai.
At this point, I would like to sincerely thank the Head of the Consulate, Mira, who trusted me and made this opportunity possible, as well as my colleague Ting, with whom they provided me with constant support. It is true—we are only three people at the consulate. Throughout my journey, I continuously meet and get to know many different people, and the work at the consulate was no different in this regard. In this context, I attended numerous events and took part in many receptions, meetings, gatherings, and forums, both formal and informal, where I consistently met new people from various fields and countries. Among them were many high-ranking government officials, ministers, presidents, and leaders from the business world.
At the consulate, I was also responsible, among other duties, for managing the consulate’s finances. During this time, I truly experienced a great deal and learned a lot. The work did not always proceed smoothly—there were many challenges for which I had to find solutions, learn new skills, and address numerous questions. Work often continued late into the night and over weekends, but with mentors and individuals such as Mira and Ting, a positive and relaxed atmosphere always prevailed. I often completely lost track of time—the hour and the day were unimportant; what mattered was that the work was successfully completed.
Now, at the beginning of 2026, as I draw a line under the year 2025, I can say that it was truly an unforgettable, active, and exceptionally interesting year. During the past year, I did not have as much freedom in managing my time as I had been accustomed to over the last 15 years as a freelancer. However, when the consulate of my country offered me the opportunity to work in a city where I feel so at home, I simply had to accept the challenge. Despite a less flexible schedule and office work—which is no secret that I am not its greatest enthusiast—I did not hesitate long in making my decision. Such an honorable opportunity does not come along often, and I would have deeply regretted not trying my hand at it.
As a member of the consulate, I am honored to have been part of this story in 2025, and even more so, to have been part of such an exceptional team. Thank you!

Leto 2025 je bilo leto, ki mi bo ostalo v lepem spominu. Zadovoljen sem s tem, kako je potekalo, čeprav je – kot še marsikatero – minilo veliko prehitro. Preteklo leto je bilo zame nekoliko drugačno. Modi, kateri sem prej posvečal večino svojega časa, sem namenil manj pozornosti, saj sem bil skozi vse leto, poleg mode, vključen tudi v delo Konzulata Republike Slovenije v Šanghaju.
Na tem mestu bi se rad iskreno zahvalil vodji konzulata, Miri, ki mi je zaupala in mi omogočila to priložnost, ter sodelavki Ting, s katero sta mi ves čas nudili podporo. Res je – na konzulatu smo le trije. Na svoji poti vselej srečujem in spoznavam veliko različnih ljudi in tudi delo na konzulatu pri tem ni bilo nič drugačno. V tem okviru sem se udeležil številnih dogodkov ter bil deležen mnogih sprejemov, sestankov, srečanj in forumov, manj ali bolj uradnih, kjer sem vedno spoznal nove ljudi z različnih področij in iz različnih držav. Med njimi je bilo tudi veliko visokih državnih funkcionarjev, ministrov, predsednikov ter vodilnih ljudi iz sveta gospodarstva.
Na konzulatu sem bil med drugim zadolžen tudi za vodenje financ. V tem času sem res veliko doživel in se naučil. Delo ni vedno potekalo zlahka – bilo je veliko izzivov, za katere sem moral poiskati rešitve, se izučiti novih stvari ter nasloviti številna vprašanja. Delo je večkrat potekalo pozno v noč in ob koncih tedna, a z mentoricama in osebama, kot sta Mira in Ting, je vselej vladalo pozitivno in sproščeno vzdušje. Pogosto sem povsem izgubil občutek za čas – ura in dan nista bila pomembna, pomembno je bilo le, da je bilo delo uspešno opravljeno.
Ko zdaj, na začetku leta 2026, potegnem črto pod leto 2025, lahko rečem, da je bilo to res nepozabno, aktivno in izjemno zanimivo leto. V preteklem letu nisem imel toliko svobode pri razpolaganju s svojim časom, kot sem je bil vajen zadnjih 15 let kot freelancer, vendar sem ob ponudbi konzulata svoje države za delo v mestu, v katerem se tako dobro počutim, izziv preprosto moral sprejeti. Kljub manj fleksibilnemu urniku in delu v pisarni – za katero ni skrivnost, da nisem njen največji ljubitelj – pri odločitvi nisem dolgo okleval. Takšne častne priložnosti ne dobiš pogosto in močno bi obžaloval, če se v njej ne bi preizkusil.
Kot član konzulata sem počaščen, da sem bil lahko del te zgodbe v letu 2025, in še bolj, da sem bil del te izjemne ekipe. Hvala!
